Supporting from the consenting phase through to implementation

CEA were initially appointed to provide peer review, strategic advice, and technical project management for HRA in the DCO application and examination phase of the Sheringham and Dudgeon Projects. Once the project was successfully consented, CEA were retained to oversee design and delivery of Kittiwake and Sandwich Tern compensation schemes.

Five years of project and environmental compliance support for EDF

EDF operates the UK’s nuclear power stations, which are at various lifecycle phases, from generation through defueling to decommissioning preparation. EDF’s operations across the fleet of stations require ongoing compliance with their Radioactive Substances Regulations (RSR) Environmental Permit, Nuclear Site License (NSL), and an in-depth understanding of evolving regulatory and policy frameworks for radioactive waste management.

Identifying future risks to nuclear decommissioning: understanding the UK's landfill infrastructure challenges

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority needed to understand how evolving waste management legislation and market dynamics could impact their ability to dispose of radioactive waste from decommissioning activities over the long term of their decommissioning mission. CEA’s strategic assessment provided the NDA with critical insights to safeguard radioactive waste disposal infrastructure across the UK’s decommissioning programme for decades to come.
